"Apparently, the image of our president is as offensive to MTV as it is to me."
-- Trent Reznor, leader of Nine Inch Nails

Reznor was responding to MTV's discomfort with the group's plan to use an unaltered image of President George Bush as a backdrop for their performance of "The Hand That Feeds," which criticizes the occupation of Iraq. MTV said it would have been "uncomfortable with their performance being built around a partisan political statement." As a result, Nine Inch Nails will not be performing at the MTV Movie Awards, as had been previously announced.
